PC Mag this month is running a cover feature "The 50 Best iPad Apps", which includes Pianist Pro.
This program is much more than the glorified touch-screen piano it appears to be. In addition to containing basic sounds for electric piano, acoustic guitar, and other instruments, it offers a special Scale Piano that locks the keys to specific scales (such as Minor Melodic Ascending, or Arabian). It's perfect for jamming or coming up with new compositions, even if you lack formal music theory training.

Today Apple announced the iPad 2. During the media event they aired a video showing the impact of the iPad over the last year ("Apple iPad: Year One"). At 1 min 10 secs in you can see Pianist Pro being demoed in the Apple Store.
MooCowMusic apps have been used by Apple to promote nearly every iOS device since we started developing on the original iPhone:-

13 Feb 2011 - We celebrate three years of iPhone development
Our first application, Pianist, was originally released on February 13th 2008. Back then there was no App Store and only a handful of third-party apps available to those who were prepared to jailbreak their iPhone in order to use them. Nevertheless, Pianist was downloaded by a quarter of a million people, paving the way not only for our future apps but in some respects the entire "mobile music app" sector. Happy Birthday, Pianist!

2 Feb 2011 - AppAdvice recommends Pianist Pro for composers
App Advice has included Pianist Pro in a short list of apps they recommend for composers:-
PianistPro is great for two reasons. The app provides a wonderful way to flesh out musical ideas, which can be done by playing on the keyboard. The app is also fantastic for those needing a MIDI keyboard for Finale or Sibelius. PianistPro supports wireless MIDI output to desktop apps. The interaction between the iPad and your Mac or Windows machine is seamless. The combination of the iPad and MacBook Air is now a truly mobile setup for composers. It is amazing that the iPad has now replaced some very expensive MIDI keyboards with a $9.99 app. Composers looking for a MIDI keyboard app should grab this one.

A truly amazing garage-band app that lets you combine guitar, bass, piano and drums onto different tracks and merge them together for one explosive performance. It's good fun and is a great app to have to show off your iPhone.

Ellen Once Again has produced a great music video using Pianist Pro that is definitely worth checking out here. There is a good example of the use of Pianist Pro as a MIDI sound source being driven by an external MIDI controller keyboard at 1:53 in.

4 Sept 2010 - Pianist Pro now with MIDI Mobilizer support
A free update today adds support for the Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer interface. In addition to using the app as a multi-touch MIDI controller keyboard, the bi-directional control of the Line 6 interface means it can also be used as a MIDI sound source, or simple sequencer. Record your song ideas on the road with nothing more than an iPad and a portable MIDI keyboard, then import them as a Standard MIDI File into your DAW back at the studio. 14 July 2010 - Squeeze perform with Pianist Pro on NBC
Squeeze were on Jimmy Fallon on NBC today, playing their new track "Pulling Mussels from a Shell". Halfway through the number, keyboardist Steven Large played a great piano solo on an iPad using Pianist Pro.

9 July 2010 - Another great live iPhone band
A band called iFourmance has just posted videos of an amazing live performance recorded at the Apple Store in Munich solely using iPhones. Trainspotters at MooCowMusic spotted our Guitarist and Bassist apps in the line-up, but more than that we were blown away by the professionalism of the group.

At MooCowMusic, we like to think we've been at the forefront of the "Mobile phone as musical instrument" revolution, going back to a time before the App Store existed and groups such as iBand were using our apps in viral videos such as this one (with a very healthy 5 million views to date). Since then we've been sent many links to music videos made using our apps, but today we received the first that we really felt we had to share with you. And so, on Bassist and Guitarist and... some other drum app (we never did get round to releasing Drummer in the App Store) - Enter Sandman.

For the second time in two days, MooCowMusic was mentioned in the New York Times, this time in an article concerning the use of the iPhone in live musical compositions. Several of our apps were listed as an example of traditional instruments being successfully emulated by the iPhone.

The search returns a list with all our apps, and from there Guitarist is selected and various screenshots are shown before it is downloaded and started. There’s something about an iPhone music app. For musicians, it’s like having an instrument in your pocket. For nonmusicians, it’s a way to coax sounds -- often programmed to stay on key no matter what note one actually plays -- out of what may be the only instrumentlike device they ever pick up.

Moocow Music [sic], which offers apps for bass, guitar, piano and organ, suggests on its Web site that its creations can be used "as a ‘musical notepad’ for working out riffs to play back in the studio on a real (instrument)." This is true. It’s also a tacit admission that the apps are not meant to replace real instruments. Still, the care that goes into these apps’ creation is obvious. Rather than simply offering one sound per note, Moocow has loaded multiple guitar and bass samples for each fret and string, which are played randomly when that note is struck. Because real guitar strings are plucked or strummed slightly differently each time, this lends a subtle air of authenticity to the sound.

8 June 2009 - Guitarist included in Apple iPhone 3GS Guided Tour video
Today, Apple released information about their new iPhone, the iPhone 3G S. The official 'Guided Tour' video describes the great features of this new device, and, to showcase the App Store, displays a page include four MooCowMusic applications, from where it shows the selection, purchase and installation of Guitarist.

8 June 2009 - WWDC one year on
MooCowMusic could not make it to the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference this year, but we were flattered to spot a six foot high Pianist icon gracing the entrance.Today the number of applications in the App Store was officially announced at over 50,000. MooCowMusic currently has three apps in the 'Top 50 Music Apps'.

The 'iPhone App Directory - Volume 1' published by Image Publishing reviews their pick of the 250 best applications in the App Store. The Staff Pick for Music Apps was 'Band', with 5 stars and a full-page spread showcasing various screenshots.
Band was one of the first applications to show off the iPhone software being opened up to developers and it didn't disappoint.

26 Mar 2009 - Pianist and Bassist charting well
MooCowMusic has been enjoying some recent chart success with its applications.
Bassist has spent the last month in the Japanese 'Top 100 Paid Apps' charts, reaching as high as position 33. And Pianist is currently in the 'Top 100 Paid Apps' charts for: UK(83), Germany(51), France(29), Italy(42), Spain(30), and a number of other countries. Since Pianist has now been on sale for over 8 months in the App Store with an estimated 28,000 competitors, this is a remarkable achievement.

As an indication of the amazing Internet success of the iPhone, not to mention MooCowMusic, we discovered today that the second most related Google Image search for the word 'piano' reveals an early image of our 'Pianist' application, and the 5th and 6th most related Google Image searches for the words 'drum machine' reveal images of our 'Drummer' application.
